引自越南，矮种椰子，果实黄色，株高和干粗均不及椰子，具有便于采摘的特点，但口感不及海南本地椰子。树形优美，可作庭园观赏。海南本地椰子干高可达20米以上，基部膨大呈明显的“葫芦头”，种植后6～8年开花结果，果实较大，椰衣较厚，椰汁清甜可口，椰肉含油量高，椰干质量好，抗性较强，经济寿命长达80年，自然寿命可达100年之久，不足之处是产量低，非生产期长。
