在就业平等（年龄）规章（EEAR）2006年10月1日正式生效前夕，英国经济与社会研究所（NIESR）举办了“反年龄歧视”研讨会。驻英国使馆经商处应邀派员与会。英国就业因年龄歧视造成的影响是多方面的。每年英国经济因此减少产出约160至310亿英镑。政府税收年减少30至50亿英镑。
