庙学是古代城市的重要建设项目之一。明清时期，随着孔庙建筑规制及祭祀制度的重新确定，应封建社会君主专制和科考活动的需求，赣南地区庙学的建设地位有大幅提升，经历了一个规模扩张、规格提升、基址转占城区要点的过程。这一情况与相应地区文峰塔的修建一起，在一定程度上造成了城市景观的结构性变化。
