从2004年1月1日起，美国企业雇主将对雇员听力损失检查结果进行记录，以符合美国职业安全卫生管理局（OSHA）新颁布的标准要求。
新标准要求，雇主应对雇员因工作场所造成的听力下降的情况进行登记。新标准含有一个听力损失记录表，雇主可按照表格设计的内容进行填写，并上报。此标准的出台目的是改进美国因工听力损失统计工作。
