2023年10月25日，由中国科学院和巴基斯坦高等教育委员会联合建立的中国-巴基斯坦地球科学研究中心在伊斯兰堡举行揭牌仪式。中国科学院副院长张亚平和巴基斯坦国家粮食安全与研究部部长考萨尔·阿卜杜拉·马利克（Kauser Abdullah Malik）、高等教育委员会主席穆赫塔尔·艾哈迈德（Mukhtar Ahmed）出席活动并为该中心揭牌。
