目前我国理工类研究生创新能力培养存在着创新意识不强、培养模式固化、支撑体系不力等几大问题。这种现状亟待变革。根据我国教育现状，借鉴传统的因材施教与西方的群类教育思想，将研究生创新能力的培养模式划分为专业精深型、应用转化型、产学研一体型三大类，据此设计不同的招考方式、课程设置、科研训练、实践教育等环节，建构差异化的培养模式。三类模式异同交错、合作互助，共同推进研究生创新能力的培养。
